Discrimination against women is rampant in some of the most bustling parts of the globe, and it is rather a very sad situation. It is surprising that in the 21st century, we have to raise voice for women, especially in a world where we are planning mission to Mars. Sadly, there are many people, mostly men, who refuse to acknowledge the rights and abilities of women, and for that alone, many organizations are fighting batters for gender inequality, women empowerment and the alike.
Women are no different
Honestly, it is even stupid to explain that why women are same as men, but that’s the sad state of affairs today. Women, who are blessed to get the right opportunities, are giving tough competition to men in most spheres of life. For the longest time, things were denied to women in many countries, and things haven’t changed much. Women’s rights are important because it allows women to have the same rights as their counterparts. This includes right the right to education, equal pay for equal work, respect and much more. The degrading status of women in some specific countries is a clear indication of the male authority and that must go, because as humans, we are all equal.
A fair society for all
Any society that doesn’t respect and value the women folks can never grow to its full potential. Unless the female gender is encouraged to do better, we will be living in a society that will be all about unjust patterns. Only a handful of organizations cannot deal with this. Sample this – Latinwomen.org is an organization that’s fighting for women in Latin America. It is surprising that women here still don’t have the choice of abortion, except for Cuba. In fact, women in these countries are subject to discrimination at every level of the economy.
Society needs equality
No society can pride itself on the degrading socioeconomic status of women. Unless we have an equal and just environment for all, competition and growth can never be at its peak. We will keep fighting the demons that have been haunting us for centuries, and if things don’t change, the world will be unjust for the next few centuries to come.
What can you do?
Support the cause! That’s the best thing that you can achieve in your own limitations. If you have the resources, donate to the different NGOs that are fighting for the cause. Also, you can practice things in real life that stands for gender equality. Support the education of children, condemn acts of discrimination, and show your assistance and voice on the internet and social media as everything counts. There is a still a long way when we have a world with equality, but unless we change our own mentality and fight for what is right, we will remain a sad community.
It is time to think beyond the basic necessities of life, because human rights are the same for all, no matter the gender. Take your stand!
